A client, FirstRain, today announced its FirstRain, Intelligent Business Search. The game-chaning search technology that transforms the web into a database of actionable insinghts. Hands down, it is one of the most impressive technologies and companies I have worked with.
FirstRain addresses one of the key business challenges of trying to find relevant information on the web, that is not redundant, duplicative or old. The announcement is very timely. A few days ago Google announced long waited changes in their search interface that would make information more contextual and bring Google Search more in line with changes already put in place by Bing, Yahoo and Ask. All are providing some level of filtering , which can make a huge difference in user productivity given the enormous complexity of the web.
However, in addition to that, FirstRain, which has introduced sophisticated qualitative analytics that
transform the web into a normalized data set takes them all one further, converting the web into a virtual database of insights that business people can use. The clean, easy to learn and to use technology, allows users to search the web and uncover trends, events, people changes that may not be announced or report on events as they trend around the world.
An example is that some time back, Microsoft, under great pressure from the European Common Market, effectively changed out their European team. They did not report this, nor I suspect would they have wanted it reported, but FirstRain picked it up, by sifting through the sea of information that occurs in small bits across the web.
